Coaching swimming has been a labor of love for me over the past 16 years. It began in my home town of Missoula, Montana where I coached pre-competive swimmers at the Missoula YMCA during my senior year of college to pay for gas. I never dreamed that it would become my career, but it has led me all over the world and afforded me the opportunity to work with hundreds of families and swimmers from just about every background imaginable. As a young coach I used to burn the candle at both ends and loved the grind. While I still love my work, I now have a family of my own and understand the importance of quality time spent time with your kids. Sports, even at the highest level, should not be activities that take away time with your kids, but rather enhance your time spent together whenever possible. Everything we do at Horizon, we do it with your kids (and your family's) happiness in mind.

On the professional side, I am lucky to have worked with some of the best coaches in the world and trained some of the fastest swimmers in North America. I have coached at just about every level of our sport, from teaching young children to swim for the first time, to working with elite athletes at national and international level competition. Swimming has brought me so much joy over the past 16 years, and I hope sincerely that Horizon Swimming and our staff can pass that joy and love on to you and your children.

Hello! My name is Reese Bentley and I am currently a sophomore at Moorpark College. I’m studying nursing with a dream of becoming a labor and delivery nurse as well as obtaining my Bachelor's degree in nursing science. I’ve grown up in Ventura County and have been swimming competitively since I was 8 years old. I swam for both Horizon and Pleasant Valley swim teams during my time. I also attended Newbury Park High School where I was a proud member of their Girls varsity team. My favorite events to swim are the 500 free, 200 free, and 100 back.

I have learned a lot from swimming over the past 10+ years and I try to incorporate that into my coaching. I believe that anything can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and consistency while emphasizing that success is something that is earned and not given.

Hi everyone! My name is Christina Luc. I graduated from CSUN back in 2019. I am a middle school math teacher by day, swim coach at night! I actually first learned how to swim by my local YMCA in the San Gabriel Valley, then started club swimming when I was in middle school. I swam club all the way through high school and was a 4-year varsity swimmer. My events were the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and the 200 IM. I also worked at my city pool for 8 years. I started out as a lifeguard, then became a swim instructor and eventually ended my last year as a pool manager.

Building strong relationships with each swimmers is something I really strive for and treasure. Being able to witness swimmers grow and gain confidence within themselves in and out of the water really melts my heart. See you at the pool!

My coaching philosophy is based on my passion and enthusiasm for the sport. I want to share my love for swimming with everyone, and provide them with the tools they need to grow and improve. I strive to grow swimmers’ confidence, strength, and enthusiasm for this sport.
